In 1983, Dave wanted to relocate to Colorado to raise his family. He brought Sheila to Colorado to visit hoping she would like it and after a single day here, she was ready to move. Dave left the Air Force in 1984 and moved to Colorado with Sheila and their 19 month old and 6 week old daughters, Rachel and Laura. Dave joined a law firm in Denver and specialized in labor and employment law and litigation. In 1987, Dave and Sheila were blessed with their third daughter, Katherine.
In 1998, Dave decided to retire from the practice of law and open a logistics company with a business partner. In 2000, they opened their public warehouse business. As a self-employed businessman, Dave has gained valuable experience creating jobs, meeting payrolls, providing health care, paying taxes and experiencing the burdens that government places on small businesses.
In 1999, after working on behalf of his community through his homeowners association, Dave was appointed to the Greenwood Village Planning and Zoning Commission and named Vice Chairman in 2001. In 2003, he ran for City Council and is now serving in his third term. Dave is also the current Chair of the Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Authority, where he has held a seat since 2003.
Sheila and Dave have three children, Rachel 25, Laura 24 and Katherine 21. Dave coached his girls in softball, volleyball, and soccer. He coached all three girls in basketball at the Littleton YMCA and in Gold Crown for ten years. Dave’s girls attended Littleton and Cherry Creek Public Schools.
In February, Dave decided to seek election to the state legislature for House District 38. He hopes to bring his life skills and abilities to bear in the State Legislature for the benefit of the residents of House District 38 and the people of Colorado.
